Do you have a payment plan?
Yes. The registration fee is due with the forms. The testing fee is due
prior to testing day. The planner, curriculum, and computer use fees are due
with the final contract. Although the tuition is due in full prior to the
beginning of the year, we do offer a payment plan for those who desire
monthly payments.
Is there any discounts?
We offer a discount of 10% off the annual tuition for siblings
There is also a 10% discount for those who pay in full with registration.
Those who pay by July 1, will qualify for a 5% discount.
Is VBCA accredited?
We are certified through the Association of Christian Teacher’s and
Schools. We do not desire, nor do we see accreditation by a state or federal
governing body. We must be free to teach the curriculum without
interference. Non-accreditation does not affect, transfers, transcripts, or
people heading for college or the military.
If my child were to transfer out of your school, would other schools
recognize his transcript?
Yes. Students in high school will transfer out with a transcript that
shows that they have earned “credits”. Those credits are his and cannot be
taken away. Different school districts have different requirements than
others, however. Consequently, our math credits will transfer, but the Bible
credits may need to be listed as “electives” in order to be “counted” for
your child.
Other students may be tested to determine proficiency prior to placement.
It has been our experience that students who have been enrolled in this
academy for more than a couple of years, and who have worked hard to excel,
normally exceed the minimum requirements for lateral transfers.
What curriculum do you use?
We use the Alpha Omega Curriculum. It is a combination of computerized
work, as well as paper lifepacs. It is a totally individualized curriculum.
You may log onto AOP.com to find out more about Alpha Omega.
What is the diagnostic testing used for?
The diagnostic testing provides placement information for academic
success. Each student is given a personality assessment, motivational
testing, and functional gifts screening provide the additional information
needed to understand each individual student’s learning style and
communication method. Understanding these learning patterns greatly assists
the classroom teacher in working with each student.
Do the students wear uniforms?
Yes. The uniforms may be purchased from Rose Uniform Company-on the
corner of Kempsville Rd and Centerville Rd.
The boys wear grey pants, white dress shirt with emblem, tie and navy
sweater or the optional blazer
The girls wear plaid skirts (jumpers for girls 10 and under), white dress
shirt with the emblem, navy tie and navy sweater or the optional blazer
There is also a physical education uniform.
Are there other dress code requirements?
Yes. The students’ hair is to be neatly combed and in an orderly fashion.
Fad hair styles, as well as colored hair, are not permitted. Boys must have
their hair cut short. Girls must have their hair pulled away from their
faces at all times. Students do not wear jewelry, make up, nail polish, etc.
A more in depth look at the uniform requirements and the reasons we must be
so strict is found in the student handbook.
Do you offer transportation?.
The academy does not provide any transportation. However, in the
event that a parent desires to carpool, we will make every effort to help
with the phone numbers of neighboring families.
Do you serve lunches?
No. We do not have the kitchen facilities to provide meals. However,
there are microwaves available for the students to warm their own lunches,
which are brought from home. Also, we have a snack bar, which is operated by
our Youth group, where the students may purchase sodas, chips, and snacks.
Do you have a sports program?
The sports program at this academy has been established for the purpose
of instilling Christian Character in out young men and women. If we
offer a class entitled Character 101, no one would register. However, if we
offer a sports program, the students flock to register and we can use the
program to teach the desired character.
Is there a school prom?
We do not offer a school prom. However, we do offer a prom alternative
for our juniors and seniors, as well as all alumni. This alternative is a
formal affair and the kids have an awesome time.
